When it comes to running your business or even finding a business partner with whom to work, do you operate under a system of core values? Do you know what your core values are, both personally and professionally? When you step back and look at it objectively, it is your inherent personal values that you will bring to the office with you and that you will bring to all of your business interactions.
Here are some core values to consider:
- Be real, ie be true to yourself every day in every business and personal relationships
- Act with integrity and ethics. Just as you wouldn’t work with someone whose ethics you questioned, you don’t want your potential business partner to question your ethics.
- Build trust. This will not happen overnight but when you consider that people (prospective clients) want to do business with someone they know, like and trust – you want to be the person that they have all three of those feelings for. Members of Tradesource know the value of working with trusted business partners.
If you have a team, do they know and understand your core values? If not, you need to articulate them. If you are a sole proprietor, do you truly know what your core values are? If so, how do you incorporate them into your daily business dealings? If you aren’t certain what they are, take some time to write them down then begin their implementation.
