How to use trade to reward employees

Times are tight for almost all businesses but you have amazing employees who are working hard and picking up the slack because they not only believe in you and your company’s mission and vision but they truly love their jobs. How can you reward those employees who have stuck with you through thick and thin but still keep an eye on the bottom line when cash is tight.

If you’re a member of a trade association you can offer your employees rewards that you’ve earned through trade-related perks. Consider these low to no cost, but likely to be appreciated rewards:

  1.  Find a fitness club that’s part of the trade group and offer the employee a membership.
  2. Hand out a gift certificate to a salon. There’s nothing better than a massage or a haircut to say, “We appreciate what you do for us!”
  3. Host an employee appreciation lunch or dinner at a restaurant that participates in trade.
  4. Offer trade scrip to one of the many restaurants that participate so they can take their family for a night out on the weekend.
  5. Have flowers delivered to the employee at the office – from a participating trade partner.
  6. Arrange for a weekend away for your employee at a participating hotel or bed and breakfast.
  7. If your employee is an animal lover, give them a certificate to take Fido or Fluffy for a grooming at a participating groomer.

These are just a few of the many ways that a company that’s a member of a trade association can not only help the bottom line but offer incentives to keep employees motivated and engaged.
